Imagine waking up to the sun and the sound of the sea lapping the gentle sands of a beautiful island, this does not have to be a dream. Many people have already lived the dream that is Mallorca. The island has a year round attractive climate with a fantastic warm summer and a welcoming mild winter. The rainfall is limited, yet when it does rain the island still has a mystical quality that makes you realise just how lucky you are. The people, the weather and the island itself have encouraged many individuals to relocate. Tourism arrived in Mallorca in the mid 1960s with big hotels, trendy cheap bars anmallorca cultured very attractive low prices. This made the island the number one choice for Brits and Germans alike. But gone are the days of a wild influx of beer swilling pot bellied thugs.

 

 

The Island now prides itself as being a major tourist resort and one of the most attractive island for people to buy or rent property when they take that decision to leave their homeland. The island has many well kept secrets, it has an intricate coastline with amazing views, clear blue seas, stunning mountain regions and secluded rugged coves.

Over the last five years many more overseas investors have decided to move to the island and since the introduction 10 years ago of the low cost airlines Mallorca has become a must see destination.

 

The island is home to many stars and has been home to many stars of the past including Ava Gardner. Today's famous faces include Michael Douglas and his beautiful wife Catherine, along with the ever present Peter Stringfellow. Other a-list celebrities such as Claudia Schiffer and major international sports stars such as Rafael Nadal are regular visitors and have properties on the island.

 

Property sales in the island in2006/7  totaled more than 5000 million euros and the regional government ministry calculates that 20-24% of these sales were to non spanish buyers.  The property's have increased in price bexpatsy more than 300% in the last 5 years, and leveled out at approximately 16% in 2007. Expectations are for a similar rise in 2008. Those people who have invested in property's in Mallorca have never seen a price drop!!!!!

 

 

The majority of property's purchased on the island are broken into 3 categories. 45% are bought by British, 35% German and 20% Spanish nationals. In the south-west of the island the higher end average purchase price is around 1 million euros, the lower end average price is around 450,000 euros.

 

The infrastructure and the road network has also been improved drastically, as a result of EU investment . Mallorcexpatsa is constantly looking to improve and the island depends on tourism, therefore investment from the government and the EU is always number one on the agenda.

 

 

All over the island the local councils are investing monies and promoting local businesses, and the standard charter flight tourist package is being replaced by individuals booking direct and enjoying the islanexpatsd at there own pace. Imagine waking up and not having to travel back to the UK or Germany. Mallorca and its vibrant beautiful lifestyle is an island rich in history and stories of the past, no matter how long you live on the island there is always something new happening or another adventure around the corner.
